In the second cheating scandal for the military’s nuclear force this year, the Navy is now investigating allegations that roughly one-fifth of trainees at a school for naval nuclear power reactor operators cheated.
The Navy says the sailors cheated on written tests needed to be certified as instructors at a nuclear propulsion school. The other cheating scandal, this one involving the Air Force, actually involved almost 100 officers who were responsible for land-based nuclear missiles used for short-notice launch.
Many inside the military blamed an unrealistic testing regimen that penalized scores under 100% for the widespread cheating. Read more.
