The NY Post has put together a comprehensive list of 20 reasons not to vote for Muslim socialist Zohran Mamdani. Here is a synopsis:
-
He hates the police
Zohran Mamdani has been explicit about his disdain for law enforcement, once calling the NYPD “racist, anti-queer and a major threat to public safety.” His later “apology” didn’t retract the accusation — he merely said it was for “the language that I used.” Instead of boosting police support, his so-called safety vision replaces officers with “mental health teams” sent to 911 scenes without backup, a proposal critics say would endanger both responders and victims. -
He really hates the police
Under Mamdani’s leadership, New York could see the NYPD shrink even further — it’s already down to fewer than 34,000 officers, the lowest in 20 years. Outgoing Mayor Eric Adams had planned to raise that number to 40,000 by 2028, but Mamdani refuses to commit to any expansion. “It’s not a question of headcount. It’s a question of safety,” he recently declared, after insisting he didn’t want to “defund this rogue agency” — words that ring hollow when every policy he pushes points that way. -
He hates the police — and mixes in antisemitism
Mamdani’s rhetoric often strays from criticism into conspiracy. “We have to make clear that when the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF,” he said, turning a few NYPD training exchanges with Israeli security experts into a sinister accusation. Since Israel equals “evil” in his worldview, even cooperative exercises are unacceptable — proof, in his mind, of a foreign influence that must be cut off. -
His mental-health plan is a fantasy
Helping the mentally ill is noble; Mamdani’s plan, however, has no grounding in reality. He suggests counseling for those on the streets, yet insists participation will be voluntary — an approach proven to fail. New Yorkers already saw how Bill de Blasio’s $1 billion ThriveNYC fiasco achieved little while the homeless crisis deepened. Expect that failure on steroids if Mamdani gets his way. -
Promises a bus boondoggle
Free buses for all sound great until the bill comes due — $700 million annually by Mamdani’s estimate, though the MTA chief warns it will soar to $1 billion. Cities like Kansas City and Olympia already tried it and regretted it: vandalism increased, routes deteriorated, and drug use skyrocketed. Even The Washington Post concluded that “Parents would grow afraid to let their children ride alone,” as buses turned into rolling shelters for addicts. -
He’s addicted to failed ideas
From government-run supermarkets to price-controlled groceries, Mamdani keeps recycling economic flops. He envisions city-owned stores paying no rent or property tax, competing unfairly against immigrant shop owners who can’t match that subsidy. Kansas City tried it. It collapsed. But that won’t deter Mamdani — ideology trumps results. -
He wants to ‘Globalize the intifada’
This chilling slogan, left uncondemned by Mamdani, calls for Israel’s annihilation and violence against Jews. His refusal to denounce it tells New York’s Jewish community all they need to know. After mobs terrorized Jewish students and residents during anti-Israel marches, how much worse would things get under a mayor who sympathizes with their cause? -
He’ll cause an international crisis
Despite rejecting the NYPD, Mamdani boasts he’d use it to detain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — ignoring the fact that America isn’t bound by the International Criminal Court and that such an act would break federal law. His stunt would strain U.S.-Israel relations and embolden Israel’s enemies, but Mamdani’s obsession outweighs common sense. -
He sides with hate
Mamdani once rapped a “love” song for the Holy Land Five, convicted for financing Hamas, and grinned for photos with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, a named co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. He also enjoys chatting with streamer Hasan Piker, who said America “deserved 9/11,” and his mentor is none other than Linda Sarsour, infamous for her antisemitic tirades. -
Then plays the victim
When his own extremism sparks backlash, Mamdani switches roles. At a press conference, he teared up recounting that his aunt feared wearing a hijab on the subway after 9/11 — even though the “aunt” was really his father’s cousin, the story had no proof, and the fear never materialized. Facts take a backseat when he’s crafting his victim narrative. -
He’ll empty the jails
Determined to shutter Rikers Island by 2027, Mamdani would release inmates long before the city finishes its replacement jails. Those new facilities, even if completed, hold far fewer than Rikers’ 7,000 population. Contrary to leftist myths, Rikers isn’t filled with petty offenders — it houses killers, gangsters, and rapists. Mamdani’s solution? Open the gates. -
He’ll put kids in danger
Critics say Mamdani’s social and housing policies will make neighborhoods poorer, less stable, and more prone to trafficking and exploitation. Reduced policing, declining oversight, and higher disorder create the perfect storm for predators — and he’s setting the stage. -
He’ll worsen the housing crisis
By freezing all rent-controlled units, roughly 30% of New York’s housing stock, Mamdani would trap families in unsuitable apartments while driving up market rents. Developers will flee rather than build under such restrictions. Even tenants in frozen units will pay — neglected repairs and zero improvements will be the new normal. -
He’ll wreck public education
After decades of struggle to secure mayoral control of schools, Mamdani plans to surrender it to the teachers union. That means no discipline, no testing, no accountability, and an entrenched bureaucracy resistant to reform. Charter schools, lifelines for thousands of struggling families, would be strangled. -
He’ll sink the city into debt
New York’s liabilities already top $300 billion — four times those of major peer cities. Yet the council refuses cuts or savings. Mamdani’s only response is to spend more. The city already burns over 10% of tax revenue just to pay interest. His agenda could push New York toward fiscal collapse. -
He’ll drive out the city’s taxpayers
The richest 1% pay nearly half of New York’s income taxes, keeping the city afloat. Mamdani’s instinct? Hike their rates higher. Even Governor Kathy Hochul opposes new tax hikes, but if Mamdani prevails, the exodus to Connecticut and Florida will only accelerate, taking billions in tax dollars with it. -
He’ll risk losing federal funds
New York thrives on federal money for transportation, education, and health care. A mayor who antagonizes Washington and vows to fight ICE at every turn will alienate allies and jeopardize funding. For a man who claims to protect New Yorkers, he’s oddly willing to bankrupt them. -
He’ll turn New York into a socialist springboard
Mamdani isn’t shy about his long game: transforming City Hall into the headquarters of a broader socialist uprising. He’s refused to back Governor Hochul — even after she endorsed him — because he wants “a socialist in the governor’s mansion.” Next stop? “Senator AOC” or “Governor Cynthia Nixon,” powered by your tax dollars. -
He has no real experience
Before politics, Mamdani was a part-time rapper, briefly worked as a foreclosure counselor, and then jumped into activism. Since 2019, he’s passed just three of the 20 bills he’s introduced. He missed a third of this year’s legislative session, yet never misses a chance to bash Israel. Governing? Not his strong suit. -
He’ll treat New York like a socialist experiment
If Mamdani wins, he’ll fill City Hall with radical ideologues eager to test every failed Marxist theory in real time. Businesses will be punished, taxpayers squeezed, and ordinary New Yorkers forced to foot the bill. He’s radical enough, reckless enough, and convinced enough to repeat every historical mistake — and it’s the city’s residents who will pay the price.
