NY Post Cover Pleads: IT NEEDS TO END. NOW.

The following editorial by David Marcus appeared in the New York Post:

Sometimes, a good rant is all a writer can offer. Bear with me.

Last Friday morning, some 3,500 New Yorkers lined up at a Catholic church in Queens to receive free food hours before it even opened, according to the New York Police Department. Catholic Charities has reported a 200 percent increase in demand over the past month and a half.

By prolonging the coronavirus shutdown long after its core mission was accomplished, Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio have plunged tens of thousands of New Yorkers into poverty.

It needs to end. Now.

In mid-March, we were told we have to endure a lockdown to ensure that hospitals didn’t get overrun. We did. The hospitals were not overwhelmed. We turned the Javits Center into a hospital. We didn’t need it. We brought in a giant Navy ship to treat New Yorkers. We didn’t need it.

We were told we were moments away from running out of ventilators. We weren’t, and now the United States has built so many, we are giving them away to other countries.

Meanwhile, the Big Apple is dying. Its streets are empty. The bars and jazz clubs, restaurants and coffeehouses sit barren. Beloved haunts, storied rooms, perfect-slice joints are shuttered, many for good. The sweat equity of countless small-business owners is evaporating. Instead of getting people back to work providing for their families, our mayor talks about a fantasyland New Deal for the post-coronavirus era.

Open the city. All of it. Right now. Broadway shows, beaches, Yankees games, the schools, the top of the Empire State building. Everything. New Yorkers have already learned to socially distance. Businesses can adjust. The elderly and infirm can continue to be isolated.

What is going on? Is anybody in charge of this situation? Or are we just left with the governor and his talking-head brother arguing on CNN about which of the two Ma loves best? (Who cares?)For two months, we have waited for Cuomo and de Blasio to tell us how this ends. Where is ex-Mayor Michael Bloomberg with his alleged army of tracers that the governor told us was the key to reopening? And why did he hand that responsibility over to Bloomberg, whom nobody elected anyway?

In late April, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp defied experts by opening his state. The Atlantic magazine, once a serious publication that should now come with a stick of stale bubblegum, accused him of engaging in “human sacrifice.”

You want to guess what happened? Guess, come on, take a guess. Instead of the predicted spike in deaths, the number of cases of coronavirus and associated deaths declined.

We should always consider that we are led by idiots, as one of my friends likes to remind me. Cuomo and de Blasio have no plan. There is not a single question about when New York can get back to normal to which they have a straight answer. Not one. They cash their taxpayer paychecks while immiserating the rest of us.

If our elected leaders won’t save the world’s greatest city from a slow death by economic strangulation, then the people of New York must do it themselves. Barbers, tailors, nail salons, sporting-goods stores, movie theaters and others should open their doors — while maintaining social distancing, of course — and dare the state to shut them down.

Our politicians serve by our consent; we don’t run our businesses or live our lives by their consent. The suggestion to the contrary is an affront to Americanism.

It has been a long time since this country, let alone this city, really had to deal with the prospect of mass starvation. This isn’t about the stock market — it’s about parents putting their kids to bed hungry and hoping tomorrow there will be something for them to eat if they get up at 4:30 a.m. and get in line at the food bank.

We did what we were asked. We flattened the freakin’ curve. There is no longer any reasonable justification for the government to deprive us of our livelihoods. And our rights aren’t the government’s to grant or take away. They belong to us — the free grant of nature and the God of nature. We’re Americans. More than that: New Yorkers, for crying out loud.

  1. We should all buy this paper to show our interest. Other papers will see that this is what brings results & will write similar articles.

  2. We should designate June 1st as NATIONAL STRIKE DAY where every one goes out and opens their business and dares their police dept. to close them down.

  3. I totally agree with this article and beg that all frum websites should post these articles the politicians must hear us loud and clear I’m talking about the vast majority of people please open up our yeshivos our shuls our businesses now. Mr Cuomo you have blood on your hands

  4. Someone forwarded this to me. There is a lot to think about it here.

    Where does the truth lie?

The W.H.O. and the CDC, long-standing medical institutions that our medical doctors rely upon for their guidance and medical information, are being investigated for corruption and/or incompetence. (1)

The “hydroxychloroquine” protocol (together with zinc and azithromycin) has helped many people recover from the coronavirus. Perhaps you have personal knowledge of this. Why is the W.H.O., CDC, politicians, doctors and others refuting this? Why are some U.S. citizens being denied this protocol, while many other countries are using it with success? (2)

At the beginning of this crisis, was there medical neglect in some hospitals that caused unnecessary deaths? Did well-meaning but wrong use of ventilators possibly cause unnecessary deaths? A NY state requirement to admit former residents and new patients with COVID-19 (or suspected of having the virus) into nursing homes most probably did cause unnecessary deaths.

Were/are deaths listed as COVID-19 really not so?

Funeral Director Michael Lanza, director of Staten Island’s Colonial Funeral Home, “To be honest with you, all of the death certificates, they’re writing COVID on all the death certificates whether they had a positive test, [or] whether they didn’t.” His words are echoed by other funeral directors in this short clip: https://www.projectveritas.com/news/breaking-funeral-directors-in-covid-19-epicenter-doubt-legitimacy-of-deaths/

Minnesota Senator and Doctor Larson said if a patient dies of, e.g., pneumonia, and was believed to have been exposed to COVID-19, the death certificate should state COVID-19 as the cause of death even though the patient was never tested, or never tested positive, for that disease. (3) Other doctors are now speaking out as well: https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/coronavirus/doctors-and-clinical-researchers-challenge-uns-who-cdc-and-dr-faucis

There is a lot of controversy about whether the death counts are accurate or not. “Deaths have been classified as a COVID-19 death even after a physician or loved ones reported otherwise. And those who died ‘with’ COVID-19 have been included in the count with those who died ‘of’ COVID-19.”
    https://fox6now.com/2020/05/16/questions-raised-over-accuracy-of-us-coronavirus-death-toll/
ACCURATE MORTALITY RATES AND DEATH COUNTS ARE CRUCIAL because based on these statistics, policies are being instituted across the country that some citizens feel are against their constitutional rights and examples of government overreach, leading to well-attended protests across the country. Police officers are posting videos that they do not want to enforce social distancing, etc., because they feel it is unconstitutional. Drones are checking up on us. All kinds of “tracking” methods are being discussed, which will result in the government gaining access to our personal information. Immunization “certificates” may be coming. (4) Citizens are being arrested for not following social distancing and mask laws (at the same time that dangerous criminals are being released from prisons). (5)
Proposed bill H.R. 6666 (the TRACE Act): “To authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to award grants to eligible entities to conduct diagnostic testing for COVID–19, and related activities such as contact tracing, through mobile health units and, as necessary, at individuals’ residences, and for other purposes.” Will people be obligated to be tested for COVID-19 if they are “tracked down”? What will happen if they are found to have COVID-19? What does “for other purposes” mean? Text of bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/6666/text?r=2&s=1 If you have questions or concerns about this bill, please visit: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/116/hr6666/comment
A video from Ventura County, California, is circulating with some frightening implications. (A clarification was published afterwards indicating no one would be forcibly removed from their home, but you be the judge.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rnuz2fuiL_c Other county officials are talking along similar lines, with very vague (purposely?) wording about how they will “isolate” family members (e.g., Broward County, Florida; State of Washington).
At the U.S. Senate Hearing on COVID-19 on May 11, 2020, doctors Yale and Stanford Universities testified that social distancing and tracing were not appropriate or useful now. (6) Scientists and doctors around the world are refuting the “Coronavirus Panic Narrative”: https://ahrp.org/medical-experts-who-dispute-the-official-coronavirus-panic-narrative/ What about the collateral damage from this panic? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DRWl1mYE40 (e.g., higher rates of suicide, domestic abuse, child abuse, drug abuse, alcoholism, and poverty; postponed surgeries and fear of getting medical treatment causing deaths, etc.)
We are hearing predictions of a coronavirus vaccine being ready in January 2021, a highly rushed-to-market vaccine. It most likely will be a new type of vaccine, either a DNA or mRNA vaccine, which carries great potential for harmful side effects. (7)
The W.H.O.’s behind-closed-doors’ concerns about our current vaccines’ safety is shocking (e.g., Professor Heidi Larson, PhD, Director, Vaccine Confidence Project: “We have a very wobbly health professional frontline that is starting to question vaccine and the safety of vaccines….In medical school, you are lucky if you have a half day on vaccines….We have a lot of ambiguity in the safety field….There’s a lot of safety science that’s needed….You can’t repurpose the same old science to make it sound better if you don’t have the science that’s relevant to the new problem. We need much more investment in safety science.”). (8)
Misconduct during medical clinical trials identified by the FDA is also troubling. (9) How do we know that the clinical trials being conducted for these rushed vaccines are trustworthy, especially for the Moderna vaccine that the FDA just approved “fast-tracking” for? (10) Clinical trials are not testing most of these vaccines in children. (11) Neither the government nor the vaccine manufacturer will carry any liability for harm or death. (12)
Will the coronavirus vaccine be mandated for all (approximately 330 million) Americans?
DOD Awards $138 Million Contract, Enabling Prefilled Syringes for Future COVID-19 Vaccine (May 12, 2020) The contract also enables ApiJect Systems America to accelerate the launch of RAPID USA manufactured in new and permanent U.S.-based BFS facilities with the ultimate production goal of over 500 million prefilled syringes (doses) in 2021.” (13) Operation Warp Speed: “…these facilities will make enough prefilled syringes to inject every man, woman, and child in America with just the right dose thirty days after a vaccine becomes available….” (14)

“Experts generally agree that animal experiments and human clinical trials of candidate vaccines for COVID-19, which is caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), should include a careful assessment of possible immune complications before releasing the vaccine to the public. If any of the mechanisms under investigation are indeed involved, they say, the resulting risks are real. ‘You really have to test a vaccine carefully,’ says Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiologist at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health in Boston, MA, ‘and not just roll it out because people are clamoring for it with an epidemic underway.’”
    https://theconversation.com/what-needs-to-go-right-to-get-a-coronavirus-vaccine-in-12-18-months-136816
No gene-based vaccines have ever been approved for human use…. And there are a lot of potential problems. The preclinical results in laboratory animals might not translate well to people. The level of immune protection might be low. And people may react adversely when injected with the vaccine.
Any coronavirus vaccine could also produce a dangerous reaction called immune enhancement, where the vaccine actually worsens the symptoms of a coronavirus infection. This is rare, but has happened with past vaccine candidates for dengue fever and other viruses. Researchers are doing everything they can to develop a vaccine as fast as possible while still making sure it is effective and safe…. If everything goes well, Fauci’s 12- to 18-month prediction may be right.
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/20/why-the-push-for-a-quick-coronavirus-vaccine-could-backfire-139854
“We seem to be willing to rush a vaccine into clinical trials without extensive animal model or safety testing,” said Paul Offit, a University of Pennsylvania immunologist who co-developed the rotavirus vaccine. “People are so scared of coronavirus that even those who are young and healthy will be willing to take a relatively untested product — even though the wild-type virus is unlikely to kill them.”

“The exclusion of children from COVID-19 clinical trials is a tremendous lost opportunity to generate timely knowledge to guide treatment of pediatric populations. Without adequate studies, if any COVID-19 therapies successfully obtain regulatory approval, clinicians would need to prescribe them for children off label. Simple extrapolation from adult to pediatric patients may not account for developmental differences in pathophysiology and drug metabolism. In the absence of pediatric data available at the time of regulatory approval, children may be exposed to ineffective dosing or possibly unsafe treatments.”

  5. While i agree with much of this, it is quite clear that the hospitals were overwhelmed, and that many lives were lost for this reason alone.

  6. busy sparring verbally with your even more moronic brother(Fredo) while thousands needlessly die. Demonrat libtard mainstream media too busy with what meds prez is taking to even so much as touch on this topic!!

  7. cuomo forced nursing homes to reaccept corona patients from hospitals when they were still infected !Nursing homes were pleading that they weren’t equipped to handle them. There were THOUSANDS of beds equipped to handle them at javits and the hospital ship!!!

  8. These fools serve by the voters’ consent—which they do have because they were elected! And not only by their own efforts. Countless machers, allegedly for our benefit, helped them out. Pull out all your old and not-so-old photos of machers grinning next to politicians, or honoring them at affairs, to see the dimensions of the problem.

Investigate and you’ll see all the help people from our communities have given to Cuomo, De Blasio, Letitia James, Nadler, Schumer, and others of that sorry type. Our flattery, donations, PR work, and bloc voting have gone for naught, except for some well-connected individuals themselves.

    • 12:04pm, shsh, Matzav censors don’t let anything be said negative about “askonim”. We have to just believe that all these under the table deals are for our benefit, you see.

  9. The problem is they will give you a 10,000 fine, take away your business licenses and no one will be there to help you. One way around it is if you have an LLC. The fine will go to the corporation and you will have to open new cooperation which is cheaper then a fine. If you have a business license. I’m not sure what you can do.

  10. The liberals are spot on here. You need just one morsel of Torah knowledge to know that human life ranks above all.
Too many fellow Yidden are sheep to the right wing PR machine.
For them, the elephant in the room is that a bad economy means that Trump is voted out. Don’t pay attention to this nasty writer, and the paper not worthy of toilet paper for your pet.
You don’t have to understand why this shut down saves lives, because the medical world insists, by an overwhelming majority, that it does.
They know more than the arrogant writer, and one human life is worth more than the whole freakin’ nasdaq, with Trump balancing on top.
