NY Spends More Money Per-Student Than Any Other US State

New York spent more money per public-school student than any other state in the nation in 2015 and blew past the national average by 86 percent, according to new data.

Figures from the US Census Bureau show that the Empire State shelled out $21,206 per student in fiscal year 2015, the most recent period available. New York shelled out a total of $64.8 billion on elementary and secondary schools in 2015 to educate approximately 2.6 million students.

That dwarfed the national average of $11,392 per student, according to the data.

Total US spending on public- school education in 2015 was $639 billion, according to the data. That’s up from $613 billion in fiscal year 2014.  Read more at NY POST.

  1. This proves that inflating the cost does not translate into the quality of education. Perhaps they should go back to teaching actual math, science and writing, as opposed to all the liberal brain washing.

  2. This is all gibberish to the tuition paying Yeshiva parents. We get NOTHING. We just get to walk by one of these public Schools and wave to OUR tax dollars that are being flushed down the toilet. We get ZERO for OUR taxes. The corruption of every level of Government, here in NY, is truly scandalous. Forget Comey, Trump, Hillary, speed cameras, brown garbage cans, etc… Why aren’t WE getting school vouchers?
