City Council Speaker Corey Johnson and transportation advocates rallied Tuesday on the steps of City Hall as lawmakers prepared to approve a new streets “master plan.”
The $1.7 plan expands bike and bus lanes while cutting space for cars, CBS2’s Marcia Kramer reported. The plan promises to build 250 miles of protected bike lanes and 150 miles of protected bus lanes that are either physically separated from traffic or monitored by cameras and create 1 million square feet of pedestrian space in the first two years.
“For too long things have been stacked in car drivers’ favor and away from other people that need to use our city streets,” Johnson said.

Insane. Kill the city. Ill do business elsewhere easier to travel.
Oh great. I can’t wait till the furniture company delivers my new dining room set by bicycle. Same thing with the next skyscraper building. The poor day laborers will have to shlep all the bricks on their backs, all the way from Staten Island. Move over handguns. Cars are now the new evil.
For too long, motorists in NYC have been treated as criminals, without prosecution. From restrictions, to poorly managed traffic patterns, to high fines for minor infractions, to prioritizing bikes over cars. This mentality began under Bloomberg, and the current mayor is doing so out of his PC mentality. I hope the result of this plan is people and businesses moving out of NYC, and the blow to revenue should be enough to hurt.
Undoubtedly, the money necessary for this “master plan” will be raised from those very same car drivers.
But of course. We subsidize everything
Once you “break the car culture”, and less people will have cars, then city revenues from driving and parking infractions goes down.
Killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.
Open minded liberals are so open minded, that their brains fell out.
The best master plan is to remove the Democratic leadership from the city government.
