Ahead of the upcoming Yomim Tovim, NYC Mayor Eric Adams spent time in Boro Park,  Brooklyn, where he joined with locals, spoke with community members, and took part in the neighborhood’s pre–Tishrei atmosphere. Throughout the day, the mayor was welcomed warmly and interacted with both residents and leaders.

One of his first stops was the recently finished Bobov-45 beis medrash, where he was received by the Bobov-45 Rebbe. After their meeting, the Rebbe personally thanked the mayor for his visit before giving him a tour of the new Kehila Center, a striking building that will serve as a hub for the kehilla.

Later, Adams sat down with a group of Boro Park askanim and administrators in a private session to address communal concerns and discuss issues facing local residents. The gathering provided a chance for direct conversation between city hall and neighborhood representatives.

The mayor then made his way to well-known establishments that help define the neighborhood’s character. At Weiss Bakery, Eichler’s, and Oh Nuts, he mingled with owners and customers, absorbing the hustle and bustle as families stocked up on essentials for the Yom Tov season. While inside Eichler’s, Moshe Davis, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office to Combat Antisemitism, sounded the shofar.

Outside, the mayor walked the streets together with Shomrim members, who accompanied him as he greeted passersby. Along the route, he was introduced to the new Misaskim van, where he paused to learn about the group’s crucial work on behalf of the community.

Everywhere he went, people stopped to shake his hand and offer their appreciation for his presence.

    • Of the four major candidates (Adams, Cuomo, Mamdani and Sliwa), Adams would by far be my preference as the next mayor, but since there’s no ranked choice in the general election I’ll probably vote Cuomo since he has the best shot at beating Israel-hating (and most likely antisemite), radical Mamdani.
