NYC Subway Fare Hikes Kick In

As the clock struck midnight, New York City bus and subway fares increased $0.25 .The Metropolitan Transit Authority will have a grace period for previously purchased Metrocards but, otherwise, a seven-day unlimited Metrocard now costs $27 and the price of a 30-day Metrocard rose to $89. The cost of a single ride increased from $2 to $2.25.Express bus fares also went up.
