New York City will resume alternate side parking for one week later this month to address “litter” in the streets, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday.

Alternate side parking will continue to be suspended through this Sunday, but it will back in place for the week of May 18 through May 24 for a “clean sweep” citywide, the mayor said during his daily press briefing.

The city parking rules will be suspended for the following two weeks from May 25 through June 7 during which the city’s Department of Sanitation will reassess cleanliness, according to de Blasio.

“We said throughout we got to keep an eye on how our neighborhoods are looking,” de Blasio said, adding that “litter is starting to add up and we’re concerned.”

  1. This idea makes the ridiculous sound like brilliance. There are several huge and obvious problems with this.

    1. The streets do need a cleaning. But they are not that bad.
    2. The liar fails to disclose the real reason for this. The city was unable to scour the neighborhoods to give citations for alternate side parking. There’s got to be money to make here somehow. The mind of liberal Democrat is fixated on making laws in order to collect fines from violators. Nothing at all to do with clean streets, and the mayor knows it.
    3. There are many alternatives to the resumption of the killer laws about alternate sides. None of them was considered, nor will be.
    4. There are many streets that are actually rather clean. The sweeper trucks tend to leave behind more litter than was there before they came.
    5. Maybe not a popular idea, but it might actually get some traction. Those blocks that are clean should be exempt from this latest decree. Those residents who cannot go to their regular jobs can each donate a few minutes time, take a broom, and make the city’s sweeper truck unnecessary. There are other major cities that do not sweep the streets because the residents keep them clean.

  2. DeBlasio is an evil wicked sodomite. The streets are fine. This is a money making GOTCHA scam to punish the taxpayers. Those little trucks only make the streets dirty where it wasn’t before. Marine Park and other neighborhoods never have “street cleaning” and no one died because of it. Now let’s say someone leaves the quarantine of his home to move his car and because of that he spreads the virus on to someone else and as a result of that the other person dies? Will DeBlasio take responsibility for that?

    • DeBlasio and Cuomo are no doubt on the indictment list but are following orders from the current administration to save their skin – for now.

  3. D(umb)iBlasio won’t get all the streets clean that week, because two of the days that week street cleaning is suspended for religious observances.
