In just over a month, New York City’s speed camera program will get a dramatic expansion—not just in absolute numbers, but in how they track speeding drivers throughout the city.

  1. We’ve allowed ourselves to fall under the heavy boot of a Police State! Marshal law to follow. Good bye freedoms. And to think that a sick person like DeBlasio is ruling over us?!

  2. I’m all for red light cameras, but when you’re driving down a long wide roadway like Eastern pky, ocean Pky, Some parts of Mcdonald Ave and many other such roadways in NYC. it’s very hard to keep track of your speed as you accelerate and decelerate with the flow of traffic. This is just another way to make money. By the way These cameras only ticket at 36mph a cop can pull you for even 26mph.

    • True, but with the school zone cameras, speed limits keep changing, and they’re not clearly marked. I often find myself facing an “End Speed Zone” sign, but have no idea where that 15 or 20mph limit began. That translates into a big cash cow for the city. It’s not about safety as much as it is about “catching” drivers. That is plain wrong.
