Obama: “A Two-State Solution Is the Only Way” for Israel

obamaPresident Barack Obama said in an interview on Friday: “I had a chance to speak to Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday, congratulated his party on his victory. I did indicate to him that we continue to believe that a two-state solution is the only way for the long-term security of Israel, if it wants to stay both a Jewish state and democratic. And I indicated to him that given his statements prior to the election, it is going to be hard to find a path where people are seriously believing that negotiations are possible. So we’re evaluating what’s taking place.

“Obviously there’s significant skepticism in Israel generally about Iran. And understandably. Iran has made vile comments, anti-Semitic comments, comments about the destruction of Israel….Frankly, they [the Iranians] have not yet made the kind of concessions that are I think going to be needed for a final deal to get done. But they have moved, and so there’s the possibility.”

  1. If Obama concedes that the pals and Iranians are bedfellows, then he should understand why Israel cannot make a deal with these ruthless anti-semites. Even without that, the pals themselves have no interest in peace and Abbas, the most “peaceful” leader in the whole lot of them, is a holocaust denier. So, how much of a willing partner does Israel really have? Obama shouldn’t worry, though, because the 2 state solution is a load of malarkey anyway, It’s been around for at least 20 years and no one can seal the deal because the pals keep sabotaging it (by killing people in cafes, on the street, etc. I think that qualifies even for a prez like Hussain Obama). G’nukt shoin with this guy!

  2. There is effectively a two-state solution in Gaza right now, where no Jews live and Hamas is the governing body. Every last inch of Gaza was turned over to the Palestinian Authority by then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
“Peace” is now more distant than ever in that region, with Hamas now resuming the digging of terror tunnels less than a year after the most recent war.

Almost all Israelis across the political spectrum would be willing to trade land for peace. All they want is to be left alone to go about their daily business without needing to worry about the next terrorist incursion, missile attack, drive-by attack, home invasion murders or the many other types of terrorist attempts to murder as many Jews as possible.

Why in the world is President Obama putting the onus of a two state solution solely on Israel? Each and every offer made to the P.A. has been rejected out of hand without a counteroffer being made. Doesn’t he realize that the P.A. can achieve their own state almost instantly by simply agreeing to Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state? Doesn’t he see that Israel has offered all territory captured from Jordan in 1967 (or equivalent territory) to the P.A., only to be rejected time and again?

President Obama will not change his philosophies in the year-and-three-quarters remaining to his administration. We can only hope that he doesn’t do too much damage in the remaining time, and that the next administration – be it Democratic or Republican – restores the relationship between the U.S. and Israel to what it once was.

  3. Mr. Obehama

Wake up! Israel is the gift which the CREATOR
has granted to HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE and that is
finally going to be final with the immediate
revelation of Moshiach speedily in our days!
