gas1Feeling pain at the pump? Gas prices have doubled since Barack Hussein Obama took office. According to the GasBuddy gasoline price tracking web site, the price of a gallon of regular gas was around $1.79 when Mr. Obama took office. Today the national average is $3.58. The lowest average price in the continental United States is $3.31 in Tulsa Oklahoma, the highest is $4.14 in Santa Barbara, CA. Four-dollar-a-gallon gas has arrived on average throughout California, and a number of other states are headed in that direction.

Consumer price index (CPI) figures from February show an unadjusted 12 month gasoline inflation rate of 19.2%, but in the last month alone prices jumped 6.8%, probably because of oil price increases due to instabilities in the Middle East. If the trend continues, gas prices would double again within a year. 100% gasoline price inflation is nothing to brag about, but imagine Mr. Obama going into the 2012 election having to explain why gas costs $7.00 a gallon. I’m sure the White House would spin it as one of their “Green” initiatives.

  1. Why is it his fault?
What has this got to do with Obama.
    He isn’t selling the oil!

    Americans believe in free trade.
A bottle of coke costs less than one penny to make. Yet you pay over 100 times that amount, because they are charging you THE MAXIMUM you would pay for it, because they know YOU WILL PAY FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
So why should oil be any different.
The people that own the oil are charging you as much as they could, because they know you will pay for it.
    Why is this not fair?
Why do Americans have a hard time understanding this?

  2. Well, did you expect anything different for the future? Of course gasoline prices were expected to rise in the years now and to come. That said, I can only hope that Mr. Obama has a good head that can challenge the OPEC nations and keep the best of our American interests in the forefront of their decisions as well. That said, I can not fault Mr. Obama though I clearly am not one to understand all the nuances of this most challenging industry’s activity. I am not quite sure that Mr. Obama is to blame for our troubles, though looking at an increasingly unstabile middle east and Egypt’s uncertain future and the scope of the oil industry, one can only think that we are in for more rises in prices at the pump. Sorry to say. This is not going to be the most simple year in the drivers seat of your vehicle. I just hope that people who need social security benefits see an increase in the future after two halted years of brining social security back in line with the inflation and other changes in the economy that spell a troubled budget in our homes.

  3. ONCE again we have a republican newspaper lying in their article ( Washington times run by Republican reverand sun yung moon a cult leader)

Anyway, The article communicates info partially true and then misleads its reader into believing a lie.

if the link the washingtron times got it from is correct the liar who wrote the article misled the public becasue he failed to mention that the price $1.79 was the all time low for the bush adminstration and then it curved up to 2.61 by may of 2009 which was lower than any time before november 2009 all the way back to february 2007, and then within a dollar up or down from the rest of the bush admin.

But the writer lied further since it conveniently left out that gasbuddy.com reports the average for march 2010 is 3.60 which is within a dollar of what it was going back throughout the bush admin.

And what are the forces art work now?

  4. Oh that’s right. It’s all Obama’s fault. He controls the gas prices and can change them with a flick of his magic wand.

  5. Orwell, you’re right, the article is slanted, but just because they criticize your honey Obama is not a reason to call them liars. Not one piece of information in the article is a lie.

  6. among examples of the word “lie” is something that is communicated in a way where the communicator knows that his/her intended audience will draw false conclusions from his/her material.

that is what the biased media often do and that is what this article did.
