Obama Condemns Killing in Egypt, But Still Won’t Take Sides

obamaPresident Obama strongly condemned the recent violence in Egypt against supporters of Mohamed Morsi, but called the situation “complex” in remarks delivered during his vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.

Announcing a cancellation of scheduled military exercises with the embattled nation, to whom the U.S. provides $1.3 billion in military aid annually, he said, “While we want to sustain our relationship with Egypt, our traditional cooperation cannot continue as usual when civilians are being killed in the streets and rights are being rolled back.”

Despite his strong criticism of the crackdown on civilians, the president said the United States wasn’t taking sides in the fight for power. “America cannot determine the future of Egypt. That’s a task for the Egyptian people.” Read more at The Washington Post.

    Replace the word Egypt with Israel and Egyptian with Israeli.
