obama1[Video below.] President Obama mixed up the two countries while answering a question online Thursday. Hit with a tough question about his administration’s policy in Afghanistan and Iraq on Thursday, President Obama made a muddled mess out of his plans for withdrawing troops from the region.

Obama swapped “Iraq” for “Afghanistan” when he answered a question on YouTube about whether he still believes soldiers need to die in the wars there.

“As I said, we will be out of Afghanistan by the end of this year,” Obama said, a fairly significant misstatement of his administration’s Afghanistan policy, which doesn’t call for a troop withdrawal until 2014. The misstep was picked up by the Future of Capitalism blog.

“We’ll have a relationship with Iraq in the same way we have relationships with many countries around the world,” Obama continued, correcting himself.

The YouTube moderator interjected, in an effort to clarify Obama’s statement. “So out of Afghanistan, as in …”

But Obama continued his answer, finally getting his wars sorted out.

“Afghanistan is a tougher situation,” he finished. “We’re going to begin to phase down our troop levels, and we’ve agreed with our allies that by 2014, this will be an Afghan-led effort.”

  1. this article is crazy in how it misleads the reader who might not listen to the audio. And to print an article like this is not responsible. Firstly listener . Obama talks for 39 minutes and prior to the quotes above he made all the correct references to the names of the countries and policy statements regarding iraq and aphgan and then after about 10 setneces in the following 2 sentence he mispoke the name of the country aphganistan and itaq twice.
” As I said, we will be out of Afghanistan by the end of this year,” Obama said, a fairly significant misstatement of his administration’s Afghanistan policy, which doesn’t call for a troop withdrawal until 2014.”

if you listen to the audio and know about current events at all you know the president only mispoke and didnt forget his two years of policy on the subject.

  2. Obama also confused the term “E Pluribus Unum” as the National Motto of the United States when he spoke to the arab world in Indonesia on 11/10/10. The President should know that the US Motto is “In G-d We Trust”.

Additionally, during three separate events this past fall, when quoting from the Declaration of Independence, he mentioned that we have inalienable rights, but consistently failed to mention the source of the rights. The Declaration of Independence definitively recognizes G-d, our Creator, as the source of our rights. Omitting the word “Creator” once was a mistake; but twice is a pattern.

In his speech in Indonesia, he mentioned being unified under one flag. The Pledge of Allegiance to our flag says that we are “one nation under G-d”. As President of the United States, he is our representative to the rest of the world. By misrepresenting things as The Declaration of Independence and our national motto, he is not only doing a disservice to the people who he represents but he is casting aside an integral part of American Society.
