Congresswoman Jackson Lee is a friend of President Obama and is a member of both the Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees. She also sits on the Subcommittees on Courts and Immigration – all Committees that are strongly related to the case of the former meat plant manager, harshly sentenced to 27 years in prison.
Jackson Lee urges Attorney General Holder to investigate allegations of “unreasonableness and unfairness in the prosecution and sentencing of Sholom Rubashkin.”
“The Rubashkin case raises issues of questionable legal ethics, excessive sentencing and a potential miscarriage of justice, all of which are a serious concern to me as a senior Member of the House Judiciary Committee,” she says.
Jackson Lee is joined by Congressman Bob Filner (D-CA), who also wrote to Attorney General Holder this week, bringing the number of Congressmen and Congresswomen who have written about the Rubashkin case to 11.
