President Obama called congressional leaders to the White House today to work out a way to get the government going again, two days into a shutdown that has furloughed hundreds of thousands of federal employees.
An administration official says that the president will urge the House to pass a “clean” continuing resolution, without add-ins to defund Obamacare.
He’s got a daunting referee job ahead of him: invitees Speaker Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Mitch McConnell have publicly feuded over the spending measure and show no signs of wavering, regardless of the economic consequences.
