rush-limbaugh-obamaPresident Obama is hitting back and naming names. In an interview with CBS News, the President was asked about some of the heated rhetoric aimed his way and he wasn’t shy about calling out the offenders.

Responding to charges on talk radio that he is a socialist, or worse a Nazi, the President went directly to the source.

“I think that when you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, it’s pretty apparent, and it’s troublesome,” Obama told CBS News’ Harry Smith about the allegations from conservative pundits.

After chuckling a bit at the Nazi reference, the President recognized that the anxiety is partly due to the dire economic situation over the past few years.

“There are periods in American history when this kind of vitriol comes out,” Obama said.

But that’s not what the vast majority of Americans believe, he said.

The interview came one day after the President mocked congressional Republicans for their hyperbolic remarks about the health care bill.

Alluding to House GOP leader Rep. John Boehner’s description of the health bill’s passage as Armageddon, Obama joked:

“After I signed the bill, I looked around. I looked up in the sky to see if asteroids were coming,” he said.

“But you know what? It turned out to be a pretty nice day.”

  1. At last I checked, we still live in a free country where we value free speech. This idea of Obama to stifle it, won’t work. No one is forcing anyone to listen to Rush or the like. It’s funny how we don’t hear complaints about air america or other left wing views. It’s only the right. I think Matzav has to remember that as well & stop stifling our opinions! Ah gutten Yom Tov.
