Ocasio-Cortez: Musk ‘One Of The Most Unintelligent Billionaires I Have Ever Met’

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) issued strong criticism of Elon Musk, the tech magnate and current head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). During a livestream on Instagram, Ocasio-Cortez labeled Musk as “one of the most unintelligent billionaires” she has ever encountered.

In her broadcast, the congresswoman voiced serious concerns about Musk’s growing influence on the federal government, particularly as DOGE conducts reviews and inserts itself into multiple agencies, such as the Treasury Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

“This dude is probably one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met or seen or witnessed,” she declared.

Ocasio-Cortez accused DOGE of a reckless approach, claiming the department was placing inexperienced young individuals, some as young as 19, in significant roles at the Treasury Department. She argued that Musk’s lack of understanding posed a real threat.

“This dude is not smart, and the danger in the lack of intelligence and the lack of expertise that Elon has, I mean, this guy is one of the most morally vacant, but also just least knowledgeable about these systems that we know of,” she said.

The congresswoman warned of a breaking point, suggesting that it was only a matter of time before something critical would “go sideways.”

In recent days, fears have heightened over DOGE gaining access to sensitive financial operations within the Treasury Department. Despite objections from some department staff, DOGE reportedly secured access to the federal payment infrastructure, which handles $6 trillion each year in federal distributions.

This system is responsible for key financial processes such as Social Security and Medicare payments, salaries for government employees, funding for contractors and grant recipients, and tax refund disbursements.

DOGE has justified its actions by stating that it seeks to ensure federal spending is aligned with the Trump administration’s policies. However, Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez are raising red flags about the potential for serious breaches of sensitive data.

In another controversial move, DOGE effectively shut down operations at USAID and attempted to transfer control of the agency to the State Department.
