Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Monday compared herself to Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), saying that the outgoing congressman was considered a “genius” when he was elected at 28 while she’s been viewed as a “fraud.”

“Double standards are Paul Ryan being elected at 28 and immediately being given the benefit of his ill-considered policies considered genius; and me winning a primary at 28 to immediately be treated with suspicion & scrutinized, down to my clothing, of being a fraud,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, linking to an article from Vox editor-at-large Ezra Klein entitled “Paul Ryan’s long con.”

Ocasio-Cortez is considered to be a rising progressive star in the Democratic Party, and, at 28, became the youngest woman elected to Congress last month.

  1. Aww, poor baby. Guess what, you were called a fraud because you ARE a fraud. Since you were elected you’ve confirmed that assessment with every word you say.

  2. Are we going to have to suffer two whole years of another headline-grabbing suit of clothes with no substance? First Marranos in Puerto Rico after 1492, when no one knew Puerto Rico existed, not a confusing a policy “genius” with genius. Ryan is no Einstein and he’s no Javits either. Ocasio-Cortez is no Chisolm and no Abzug either.

  3. Being in Canada, I don’t know that much about the details of these guys in government, but I searched Wikipedia and found no source that labelled Ryan a “genius”. The phrase “ill-considered policies” seems rather vague – what exactly is the reference? Perhaps his short term as House Speaker and the (alleged) debt during that period?

But in terms of Ocasio-Cortez herself, she is famous mainly because she is famous. Trashes Israel and then is forced to admit she knows nothing about the topic. Admits to not having any idea how to pay for all the goodies she promises. Tries to ingratiate herself with (or imagines herself as being) Jewish based on some self-defined meaning of culture because, in her own words, “dna” isn’t everything.

  4. I should add one more to my previous post. She is not yet in office and she is already whining about (allegedly) how unfairly she is being treated as compared to (allegedly) how Ryan was treated. Ryan has absolutely no connection to her. That does not instill confidence in an observer about her own confidence in herself. And as long as she is into comparisons, why doesn’t she compare how she is treated with, for example, how the Trump family (wife, daughter etc) are treated, down to the fact of being trashed by (some) media for their fashion choices (and most of those media victims are not in the public eye by choice)? And how about them being confronted and affronted in public? How about mentioning that?

  5. What a fraud. She is NOT a “rising progressive star”! Only in her own pea brain mind. Almost all her Democrat colleagues have separated themselves from her. Even Jerrold Nadler & Adam Schiff have ignored her and will make sure she gets no significant position of power. Even her friends in the left wing media will eventually stop reporting her stupidity and shenanigans.
