Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin is now en route to Eretz Yisroel for his first visit to the Holy Land since his miraculous release earlier this year, Matzav.com has learned exclusively.
On December 20, 2017, President Donald Trump commuted the prison sentence of the 57-year-old father of 10 children, who previously ran the Iowa headquarters of a family business that was the country’s largest kosher meat-processing company. In 2009, he was sentenced to 27 years in prison. Reb Sholom Mordechai served more than 8 years of that draconian sentence, which was decried by some of the most prominent legal scholars in North America.
Since his release, Reb Sholom Mordechai, who now resides in Monsey, NY, with the support of his wife, Leah, has devoted his life to being mechazeik other Yidden, traveling the length and breadth of the tri-state area to impart words of chizuk.
In the photos above and below, Reb Sholom Mordechai is seen entering the airport in New York this afternoon for his flight.
Reb Sholom Mordechai will be visiting many of the rabbonim and admorim in Eretz Yisroel who davened for his yeshuah and encouraged their followers to do so as well. He will also visit and daven at kevorim of gedolei Torah where Yidden poured out their hearts on his behalf.
This visit is certainly an emotional one for Reb Sholom Mordechai, who, while imprisoned, inspired a nation with his unwavering emunah and bitachon, displaying a gevurah that was extraordinary.
A highlight of the visit for Reb Sholom Mordechai will be a stop at the Kosel Hamaarovi, where he will recite heartfelt tefillos of thanks to the Ribono Shel Olam for his personal yeshuah, while davening for yeshuos for his brethren across the globe.
