Anti-abortion activist David Daleiden speaks during the Family Research Counci''s (FRC) 11th annual ProLifeCon Digital Action Summit on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the FTC Washington D.C. headquarters on the day of the March for Life, commemorating the 43nd anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide. Daleiden was awarded the Digital Prolife Pioneer Award from FRC President Tony Perkins for his undercover work exposing Planned ParenthoodÕs sale of aborted babies' parts. A bill has been introduced in the Ohio House that would ban all abortions in the state.

Two Republican lawmakers introduced the legislation, which would block women from receiving abortions even when a mother’s life.

“The goal of this bill is to first of all continue to get the word out that life does begin at conception and move the debate in that direction, and to protect unborn Ohioans from being aborted,” Hood said.

Under the bill, a woman who gets an abortion could be charged with a crime.

  1. I hope they’re matzliach. Apparently there are still decent people who live in this Country. I qould like to see this bill introduced here in New York, the capital of toaiva.

    • TRIPLE OF TRIPLE OF TRIPLE DITTOES!!

Of course, we are not sure if New York is the “capital” of Toeiva, or is San Francisco the “capital” of Toeiva (very tragically, it is no longer “San Francisco”; rather, the wicked Toeiva people and their promoters have certainly turned it into “Sham-Fag-Sicko” or “Sham-Scam-Sicko”!!) or is Brazil the “capital” of Toeiva or is Thailand the “capital” of Toeiva

    • Abortions are absolutely forbidden by halacha, unless a mother’s life is danger. Please don’t talk about matters you are ignorant of.

      • That is not correct. There are times, even if mother’s life is not in danger, when it is mutar. Obviously, only when a competent Rav is involved. But please don’t talk about matters that you are clearly ignorant of.

        • Dear Pretentious Chuchum, please bring halachic sources to you assertion that abortions are halachically permissible in a non life threatening situation. Until then, you win an ignorance award.

      • there are a few other cases in which abortion is permissible. you should never know from such a situation. call a rav if you want more detail.

      • To Anon: So as I said- Abortions are NOT forbidden by Halacha. If you actually read the article, the bill is trying to ban ALL abortions, even when the mother is in danger. What do you plan to do in that case?

  2. Hope they are not Matzliach. We don’t want a ban on all abortions, there are times when Halacha says it is Mutar, sometimes even required. What we want is a ban on elective abortions.

  3. All abortions should be illegal, except for when the Mothers life is in danger. No other reason. Next time use a contraceptive. You can’t murder a baby because of your poor decisions.

    • No, not correct. Halacha allows in certain cases (You can ask a Rav if c”v necessary, but hopefully you shouldn’t know from it), even when mother’s life is not in danger. The left is completely crazy about abortion, but an absolute ban is also wrong.

  4. Let’s hope it passes. Murder of babies is murder. As Jews we oppose abortions. Yes if mothers life is in danger hers comes first. But the vast majority is f abortions are murder. In israel unfortunatly the same happens. From 1948 to 1967 there were a million jewish babies murdered. Also every female israeli soldier is entitled to three free abortions. If America will outlaw abortions then maybe israel will follow.

    • Sorry, no.

According to Hallachah, murder of babies is murder. Murder of fetuses is not murder (even though it is forbidden in most cases).

      • To be honest, murder of fetus may also be retzicha, see R’ Moshe’ s tshuva, arguing with the Ritz Eliezer. But yes, there are times when mutar…

        • No, it’s never muttar, except to save the life of the mother. Having the knowledge that a child will be born with defects or down syndrome is not a heter to murder the fetus. Sorry. Don’t make up your own halachos.

          • Again, you obviously have not learned the Sugyas nor had to ask a shaila about it, or you would know that there are times when it is mutar. I would not use the phrase “it’s never mutar,” it would be more accurate to write “very very rarely mutar.”
Also worth pointing out that the idea that life begins at conception is a Christian idea, I am not aware of a similar shita in the Poskim (please let me know if you have seen otherwise). While it is Assur to do an abortion at that time (for reasons other than the issue of retzicha), it does not mean that life has already begun (and that will make a difference regarding certain situations when a Rav may be Matir).

  5. Not sure what all the hock is. Sure, the Rambam and Shulchan Aruch talk about abortion when the mothers life is in danger, but I have heard from Hannity numerous times that you never need to do an abortion to save a mothers life. If the Ramabm argues with Hannity, of course I will go with Hannity….

  6. I am actually appalled at THE WAY that a few of the remarks have expressed our view of abortion. “Abortions are NOT forbidden by Halacha” “Halacha doesn’t ‘ban’ abortions” “Halacha allows in certain cases . . . . ” “There are times . . . . . when it is mutar, sometimes even required.”

B’Ezras Hashem, let us look at another example. Let us suppose that some people were to ask us: “Is it true that you Jews are not allowed to eat pork?” would any of us reply (like is stated here with abortion): “No, pork is NOT forbidden by Halacha” or “Halacha doesn’t ‘ban’ pork” or “Halacha allows pork in certain cases” or “There are times when pork is mutar, sometimes even required!” Obviously, (with regards to pork) none of us would, Chas V’Shalom, ever even think of saying a reply that is even remotely like that! On the contrary, we would clearly and definitely exclaim: “Yes, pork certainly IS forbidden to us by Halacha!” and “Yes, we are certainly BANNED by Halacha from eating pork!”

At the same time though, we would also note that — as is the case with many of our prohibitions — there are certain EXCEPTIONS to this rule of pork for certain specific circumstances of extreme emergency.

SO THIS IS THE SAME WAY WE NEED TO EXPRESS THE TORAH’S VIEW OF ABORTION!!

“Yes, abortion certainly is a very terrible thing!” “Yes — as is stated by the Great Posek HaDor, the Raban Shel Yisroel Rav Moshe Feinstein, ZT’L — abortion certainly is murder!” “Yes, abortion certainly IS forbidden by Halacha!” and “Yes, we are certainly BANNED by Halacha from doing abortions!”

It is just that at the same time though — as is the case with many of our prohibitions — there are certain EXCEPTIONS to this rule of abortion for certain specific circumstances of extreme emergency.
