The NYPD is currently investigating a string of burglaries where a group of criminals have stolen ATM machines from nearly 50 businesses throughout New York City over the past four months of 2024.

Between September 19 and December 26, the thieves broke into 49 different commercial properties in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. They took not only ATM machines but also other items, according to police.

Authorities believe the operation involves a trio: two burglars and a getaway driver. It has been revealed that the group steals cars, removes their license plates, and uses them for their escape.

On Friday, police shared footage from security cameras, which shows two men in hoodies, face masks, and gloves efficiently removing an ATM from a disorganized aisle in a closed convenience store in Queens. The incident took place around 1:20 a.m. on Monday, December 23, at the 75th St. Super Bazaar on 31st Avenue in Jackson Heights.

Jarjeet Singh, the owner of the deli, confirmed that the ATM had roughly $2,000 inside at the time of the robbery. He mentioned that his security cameras recorded the criminals carrying out the theft in under 10 minutes.

“But they [did] not touch anything else, only [the] ATM,” Singh said in an interview with 1010 WINS. “We have been in business [for] 25 years. This thing [has] never happened before.”

According to the police, no one has been injured during these burglaries. Anyone with any information regarding the crimes is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.

  1. Any of these crimes committed in Manhattan will automatically be charges dropped by the tandem of Bragg and Soros. In Brooklyn, misdemeanor only. In Queens maybe robbery. In short, they’re scot free.
