It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Mrs. Raizel Nechamah Wolhendler a”h. She was 104 years old.
Born in Krakow as the youngest of four, Mrs. Wolhendler, nee Dym, was one of the last living students of the famed Frau Sarah Schenirer, founder of the Bais Yaakov movement.
She was separated from her husband, Chaim Shmuel, during World War II, later getting back together in Europe and ultimately immigrating to the United States, where they rebuilt their lives.
Mrs. Wolhendler became a teacher in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, carrying on the values and legacy of her legendary teacher, Frau Schenirer, teaching until she was well into her older years.
The levayah was held last night in Brooklyn, followed by kevurah in the Satmar bais hachaim Kiryas Yoel.
