Osem is stopping to provide mehadrin kosher for one of its most important flagship products, ketchup, as a result of the war in Ukraine and the huge shortage of tomato concentrate produced in the country.
Osem had to switch from using a tomato concentrate made in Israel, which is problematic because of Shmittah.
Due to the war in Ukraine, a lot of goods that were supposed to arrive in Israel, including raw material intended for the production of ketchup, have been held up. There is currently no clear forecast of when the goods will be released.

Switch “from” or switch “to”? Switching from would be a good thing from a Kashrus perspective, not a negative one as the article implies.
it is a problem because of Shmittah
Don’t need their junk. There are others! If BDS boycotted them, boy would they then appreciate if everyone took on their effort! Maybe we should initiate our own boycott of all OSEM products.
should read ” to using….” ?
So how am I supposed to eat my french fries now without ketchup?! I could use Heinz Ketchup, you say?
Hmmmm. In Heinz-sight, that’s not a bad idea.
Ha ha.
