Sky News Arabic has reported the Palestinian Authority told Israel it will not control the Rafah Crossing under Israeli military control, and will not accept control over parts of Gaza.

The report also said that the US is the one pressuring Israel to reopen the Rafah Crossing and to transfer control of the crossing to the Palestinian Authority.

According to the report, Israel offered the Palestinian Authority to control the crossing before the was was over, but the PA refused unless it was part of a plan Israel would agree to which would lead to the creation of a Palestinian state.

Last week, Al Akhbar had reported that Majid Faraj, the PA’s head of intelligence, is trying to restart operations through the Rafah Crossing. The IDF is currently in control of the crossing.

However, the PA official charged with “civil affairs,” Hussein al-Sheikh, quickly denied the report, claiming the PA “rejects in any form guardianship of the Rafah Crossing and attempts to harm Palestinian sovereignty over it in cooperation with Egypt.”

Egypt is also refusing to coordinate with Israel regarding sending humanitarian relief to Gaza.
