fox-newsFormer Republican vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has signed with Fox News as a contributor, the network said today. Palin will join Fox’s team to provide regular insight and analysis on the cable network and its newer business network. She will also join Fox broadcasting network for special political coverage.

It’s not clear how much Palin’s contract with the network will be worth, or for how long it will last.

“I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at FOX News,” Palin said in a statement. “It’s wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news.”

The news was first reported by the New York Times.

The move provides Palin with a platform to sound off on the latest political issues, especially as she stays in the mix of potential 2012 Republican contenders for the White House.

It also marks the latest relationship between Fox and former Republican elected officials, on a network that has had to fight off perceptions of right-wing bias, a perception especially rife in the Obama administration.

“Governor Palin has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the FOX News lineup,” said Bill Shine Fox’s Executive Vice President of Programming.
