Police have responded to at least 10 calls in the past few weeks of possible jumpers that turned out to be figures perched from buildings as part of an art exhibit.The 31 life-size sculptures are part of an installation called “Event Horizon.” They are body casts of artist Antony Gormley made of iron and glass fiber. They were installed on pathways, sidewalks and rooftops of buildings surrounding Madison Square Park for an exhibit beginning March 26.
The NYPD alerted the public to the exhibit so they would know the figures were not residents in distress. A 911 call was received Wednesday at the Empire State Building, where one of the figures was located.
