smokingA video showing a toddler enjoying a cigarette – featured in today’s Matzav Featured Video – is causing shockwaves around the world. Perhaps even more shocking is that the boy is apparently already an addicted smoker.

The child, 2-year-old Ardi Rizal, who lives in Indonesia, smokes two packs a day, according to his parents. They said he had his first puff at 18-months and took to it like a fish to water.

Six months later, the toddler is said to smoke 40 cigarettes a day.

His mother said the boy is completely addicted, and becomes angry if he doesn’t get his smoke break – going as far as screaming and bashing his head against the wall. He says he feels dizzy and sick when he’s not smoking.

Statistics show his habit is part of a disturbing trend. A quarter of all Indonesian children ages 3 to 15 have reportedly tried cigarettes.

  1. yes it shocking however why do we need to read about 2 year old being addicted to cigarettes?
It is bad enough when our own begin at 13 and up. Unless of course there are many things I personally don’t know about.

  2. Why is such a video on a jewish website? What is so important about this video? I don’t think it’s proper for any goyish videos to be on Matzva. All videos should be of jewish themes and proper hashkafas.

  3. Why are you printing this garbage anomily on a “Torah” website? You have some Shota ben Pickles, goy shebi goy! It’s a disgrace that you report this, like this is major news. Breaking story! We MUST know about this. Phe

  4. Who gives the child a cigarette in the first place at such an age….or any age?????
    absolutely sickening!!!!!!

  5. he says he feels dizzy and sick when not smoking??? Really – a two year old with such great language?? Maybe we should start smoking!!

  6. “Even though we already put this up as a featured video, let’s also make a story headline out of it beacause then everyone will talk about it in the comments and then people will like to come to matzav…”

  7. It’s memanefshach.
To a ma’amin, his (family’s) business is their business, and ein lonu zman for takana. We have daily mitzvos, vezeh eiyno min haklal.
To liberals who believe in evolution, survival of the fittest theory would preclude helping here…
In fact the whole war on drugs and its criminal base is money saving the feeble minded.

  8. If only the president would have smoked when he was a kid in Indonesia, that would have done him in by now & we wouldn’t have to deal with him now.

Maybe there is a lesson in it? Do we ever behave like the parents, (or child), in much smaller way?

Its a wake-up call, for it makes us think and re-think. We dont always appreciate it though.
