Paul Ryan: I’m Voting for Donald Trump

Paul Ryan has seen the light. He’s tasted the cool-aid. And oh how sweet it is.

The Republican House Speaker wrote in an op-ed today that he will vote for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the fall. This comes after Ryan had previously said he was not “ready” to endorse him. The pair had a series of discussions—by phone and in person—in the weeks leading up to the official endorsement.

Ryan, the party’s 2012 vice-presidential nominee, famously rebuked Trump after the brash billionaire feigned ignorance of support from white supremacist David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan. “If a person wants to be the nominee of the Republican Party, there can be no evasion and no games: They must reject any group or cause that is built on bigotry,” Ryan said at the time. He had also previously lamented the tone of the 2016 GOP primary, largely a product of Trump’s insult-based campaign strategy. Read more at GazetteXtra.
