paul-ryanRep. Paul Ryan is taking a third shot at a new budget that he says will balance the federal government’s books in 10 years. According to a New York Times analysis, the budget seeks steep cuts to Medicaid, food stamps, and a repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

As budget levels for this fiscal year were already decided in December, the budget is more likely to be used as a campaign blueprint for Republicans.

“This budget stops spending money we don’t have,” said Ryan, the House Budget Committee chairman and possible future chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Democrat Steny Hoyer asked rhetorically: Is this “really just a bad April Fools’ Day joke?” Read more at The New York Times.
