The Pentagon has refuted claims made by Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) that an Iranian “mothership” is located off the East Coast of the United States and is deploying unidentified drones.
Sabrina Singh, a Pentagon spokesperson, was asked about the accuracy of Van Drew’s statement that Iran had launched a “mothership” containing drones about a month ago, which are said to have been sighted in places like New Jersey and Staten Island, New York.
“There is not any truth to that. There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there’s no so-called mothership launching drones towards the United States,” Singh clarified.
When further pressed about what the Pentagon was doing to address the sightings of these drones, Singh emphasized that there is “no evidence” suggesting that the drones originated from a foreign power or enemy. She also pointed out that the drones in question were not part of the United States military’s operations.
“At this time, we have no evidence that these activities are coming from a foreign entity or the work of an adversary,” Singh stated. “We’re going to continue to monitor what is happening, but at no point were our installations threatened when this activity was occurring.”
Singh’s remarks followed Van Drew’s appearance on Fox News, where he claimed that “Iran launched a mothership probably about a month ago” carrying the drones that have allegedly been spotted near locations such as President-elect Donald Trump’s Trump National Golf Club Bedminster and the Picatinny Arsenal military base.
“I’m also on the Transportation Committee, on the Aviation Subcommittee, and I’ve gotten to know people. And, from very high sources, very qualified sources, very responsible sources. I’m going to tell you the real deal … Iran launched a mothership, probably about a month ago that contains these drones,” Van Drew asserted. “That mothership is off … it’s off the east coast of the United States of America.”
Several lawmakers from New Jersey, including Republican state Sen. Jon Bramnick and Rep. Thomas Kean Jr. (R-NJ), have called for a formal investigation into the drone sightings and urged that the “escalating issue” be promptly addressed.
“The State of New Jersey should issue a limited state of emergency banning all drones until the public receives an explanation regarding these multiple sightings,” Bramnick proposed.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) previously stated that he had discussed the ongoing reports of drone activity in the state with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, as well as with “senior officials” from DHS and the New Jersey State Police. Murphy reassured the public, emphasizing that “there is no known threat to the public.”

“there is no known threat to the public”
Good! Just tells us where they are from. Doesn’t the public have a RIGHT to know where they are from?!?!? And if you don’t know, how can you be so sure that “there is no known threat to the public”
