Pentagon: Iraq Needs Help

army-gen-martin-dempseyIraqi security forces weren’t able to prevent an insurgency, and, so says the Pentagon’s top leaders, won’t be able to retake the land captured by ISIS militants. On Thursday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Army Gen. Martin Dempsey said that Iraqi forces are “capable of defending Baghdad,” but need outside help to launch an offensive in the conflict.

The leaders said the U.S. is still assessing military options, and that any role it takes would depend on Iraq forming a national-unity government. Read more at The Washington Post.
