Critics of Mayor Bill de Blasio are circulating an old, fanciful petition calling for his impeachment amid outrage over riots and lootings in the city during protests over the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.

The online Change.org petition — “Impeach de Blasio” — garnered more than 60,000 signatures and growing Tuesday night. Organizers are seeking 75,000 backers.

The petition was started last year, but thousands signed onto it Tuesday as controversy raged over protests engulfing the city that have triggered clashes between participants and police officers and reports of vandalism and damage to retail stores.

  1. Old numbers. There are more than 90,000 signatures, and the goal is 150,000.

The sad part of all this is that DeBlasio doesn’t care about his popularity. He has done worse than let down every community in NYC, and is challenging Dinkins for status as “Worst mayor of New York”. He is in his second term, and cannot run for mayor again. The petition seeks the impeachment, which won’t happen in the current City Council. The real petition needs to be addressed to Cuomo to throw him out of office.

  2. No no no. Big mistake. By signing this petition you will cause tremendous aiva! This is even worse than davening with a legal safe backyard Minyan! And then we wonder why the goyim hate us. We must listen to the misyavnim!

  3. Why are people more upset about the looting of the protesters then the terrorism of the government. For THREE MONTHS stores have been closed as well as shuls being shut for two of them. More than enough reason to impeach both of the inept, Coumo and De-Blasio.
