Philadelphia International Airport has begun offering fully kosher food at Terminal A-West, marking what is being described as the first airport location in the United States dedicated entirely to kosher cuisine.
The new establishment sells exclusively kosher products while also providing halal-certified options suitable for Muslim travelers.
The concept was developed by Prime Kosher Sports, a food service company founded in 2017 that specializes in kosher meals for Jewish consumers and halal offerings for Muslims at major venues, including large stadiums and entertainment centers.
The menu includes grilled chicken, falafel, smoked turkey sandwiches served on pretzel rolls, specialty salads, kosher snacks, candies, and beverages.
In addition to meeting kosher and halal standards, the store also offers gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-conscious options designed to accommodate a wide range of dietary needs.
“PKS Kosher Market was created to meet the clear demand for kosher and halal food in airports,” said Allen Bailey, president of PKS Airport. “It has been a long journey to get here, but we are very excited to launch this initiative.”
Mel Hannah, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace PHL, the company overseeing airport retail operations, said the new offering reflects the airport’s broader effort to better serve its diverse passenger base.
“Bringing a kosher and halal menu is key to providing a broad range of food options that welcome all travelers,” Hannah said. “With the introduction of the Kosher Market, passengers will now have access to fresh meals that meet dietary standards in a convenient format.”
