Reply to Shlomo: First of all, who cares when it was written, and additionally you are incorrect as Reb Shneur was niftar the same year that letter was written
When R Ahron passed away it is said that R Yoshe Ber raised the bulk of budget for the first year. It seems that he felt he was needed when R Shneur passed away as well. Halevai, we could be as committed to Torah to cross political lines when needed.
Why is this “breaking news”?
Was this supposed to be publicized? If yes, why dafka now?
There is no indication that this was a private letter.
It seems that it was written to help benefit the Lakewood Yeshiva.
Beautiful.
Is this letter suppose to be a surprise?
From the biggest lamdan and the biggest ‘machshiv torah’ from the last generation?
This letter was written way after rebbe Ahron and reb shneur. Were both niftar and over 33 years ago

Reb Shneur Z”L was niftar in June, 1982, only a few weeks before this letter was written.

Why is this such a Chidush? Of course a Gadol Hador would be supportive of Lakewood.
