Dozens of demonstrators affiliated with an anti-draft faction gathered Monday evening in central Yerushalayim, staging a protest that quickly escalated into confrontation with security forces.

The protestors blocked the intersection of Sarei Yisrael and Yafo Streets in the heart of the city.

In response, police units were dispatched to the scene, including mounted officers and a water cannon vehicle, in an effort to disperse the crowd.

The demonstrators were forcibly removed by police as tensions flared between the protestors and law enforcement. Eyewitnesses reported shouting, resistance, and scuffles as protestors refused to vacate the area voluntarily.

The protest is part of a series of actions led by a group known for its hardline stance on the army issue.

Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence, water being sprayed from the canon, and protestors being dragged away or restrained by officers. The use of mounted police created dramatic moments as the crowd tried to resist while horses advanced.

Several arrests were made.

    • If you’d had ahavas yisroel and ahavas Hashem, you’d have joined them in this most important protest of saving yiddishkeit.

  3. Just for the record that’s not a “water” cannon. That stuff the tziyonim are spraying is probably one of the worst smelling things you’ll ever smell

    • This stinky water is only sprayed on chareidim, never on chiloni protesters. These are the tziyonim the govt wants chareidim to join. This is what chareidim would look like after they leave the army.

  4. I wonder why none of the many other protesters we’ve had to endure don’t get the same treatment? What happened to all the calls for equality???? Or are some groups more “equal” then others?!!! The hypocrisy is glaring on the part of law enforcement!

  5. They are trying to fight going to the army because it is not tzniusdik enough and then they no problem being photographed touching female soldiers ? This is inconsistent.

    • The IDF and police officially call for a male and female working as a team. Police cars always include a male and female, even if one of them is chassidic, H’Y!

  7. These boys seem to have a lot of free time on their hands. I can’t imagine what a mother of a soldier, who is risking his life in some dangerous location, thinks when she sees this. If there are any American boys involved they should be deported immediately.
