The co-op is the best store, with the best kashrus, and the best prices hands down. Thanks R” Zeev! Reply
The jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus), also known as jack tree, jakfruit, or sometimes simply jack or jak, is a species of tree in the fig, mulberry and breadfruit family (Moraceae). Reply
can someone tell me what a “jack fruit” is. and why is it so expensive? especially at a store named NPGS (Non Profit Grocery Store). Reply
you don’t have to buy it. why shouldnt they offer nice fruit for tubshvat for those who want and can afford it? Reply
got it at bingo for $3.99 a lb and they sold it by the slice so we can taste it without going broke. it came out slightly over 1 lb. less than $5 Reply
I saw the exact same fruit in Shoprite on Avenue I, in Brooklyn, for $1.00 a few weeks ago. I kid you not. Reply
I will celebrate Tu B’shvat by NOT buying it and teaching my family that money doesn’t grow on trees 😉 Reply
Do you think the Chofetz Chaim wasted an extravagant sum of money for fruit like this? Vilna Goan? Rav Chaim Volozhon? Netzev? Aruch Hashulchan? Reply
A different supermarket had it for $44.99!

chaiml, that fruit probably weighs between 20- 30 lbs. Per pound it’s not that much.
That thing looks pretty big. How much is it per pound?

gg had a very big jackfruit rosh hashana time for 89.99!!
to the one who saw it in shoprite it was probably $1 a pound but agree that it’s out of hand
NPGS James is also selling slices of the Jack Fruit for only a $1.99 lb.
At 15 pounds, which is what they weigh, is onky $2 pound
