learn-and-network-dinner[Photos and audio below.] Just two months after the Lakewood Learn & Network Kollel was founded by R’ Duvi Honig, the mosad held its first ever dinner last night. The event was not geared to raise funds, but to formally launch the program, which has been greeted warmly by the community.

The Learn and Network Kollel was founded to create a place where like-minded individuals can learn, network together, and help each other with parnassah opportunities.

The Learn and Network Kollel is located at Bais Medrash Kol Yehudah, the Nusach Ashkenaz minyan of Brook Hill Estates. The kollel meets each day, with men of all ages participating from 5 to 7 p.m. Learning bechaburah is led by Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Rubin.

Twice a week, there is a set networking schedule to give participants the opportunity to network with each other and hone their business skills. A computer course is given once a week by a talmid chochom who retired after 25 years as computer manager at the New York Times.

“Learning each day provides the engine for everything that follows,” notes Duvi. “A good seder puts everything else in the proper perspective.”

During set times, the participants network with each other, exchanging ideas and tips that they came across during the day.

“Someone may come back from an interview that day and tell his friend that while the job wasn’t for him personally, it may be worthwhile for him to check out,” explains Duvi. “When you’re involved in networking, you’re thinking a different way all the time and are willing to look out not only for what’s good for you personally, but what’s good for others.”

The kollel is affiliated with multiple social services organizations, including Agudas Yisroel’s PCS, that help match people up with job opportunities.

Recently, the kollel had to relocate to Brook Hill after the floor at the Chavrei Hakollel building, where it had formally been located, collapsed. The networking portion of the program has been put on hold temporarily.

The dinner was held at Bais Hatorah Halland featured remarks from Rav Matisyahu Salomon, Rav Shaul Simcha Friedman, Rav Yerachmiel Chossid, and Rabbi Gedaliah Weinberger, among others.

A buffet by Yitzy Mandel Catering was served and zemiros was provided by Chazzan Aryeh Spilman with music by Shmuel Mordechai Goldenberg (732-901-7268).
