grossman[Photos below.] This past week, a matzeivah was erected at the gravesite of Mr. Martin Grossman, Michoel Yechiel ben Avraham. Because Mr. Grossman did not have family to care for his burial, a number of volunteers undertook to ensure that he receive kevuras Yisroel and a proper gravesite.

Mr. Grossman, who was executed back in February, was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Margaret “Peggy” Park, a Florida wildlife officer who was shot with her own gun in 1984 when he was 19 years old.

Mr. Grossman was the 69th person executed in Florida since the death penalty was reinstated in the sunshine state in 1979. He was the 25th by lethal injection.

Prior to Mr. Grossman’s execution, Jews around the world wrote to Florida Governor Charlie Crist, asking him for a 60-day stay of execution for Mr. Grossman, but the Governor ignored the requests to allow Grossman to repay his debt to society by serving the rest of his life in prison. Separately, 200 organizations, Jewish and non-Jewish, sent Governor Crist a petition requesting the stay of the execution, in order to properly file an official request for clemency.

The funeral of Mr. Grossman took place at the Nikolsberger Bais Medrash in Monsey and he was buried in the bais hakevaros in Liberty, NY, where the matzeivah was just recently placed.

  1. Baruch Hashem, this is a true kiddish shem shmayim. May Michoel Yechiel hy’d serve as a malitz yosher for all of klal yisroel.

  2. He was in the midst of a serious path of tshuva, which makes me feel pretty certain that his gan eden will be bigger then commenter #3.

  3. since when is retzicha of a goy punished by misa al pi halacha? Yes H”YD is very appropiate especially when given the circumstances and the vague evidence ( do research and read the whole story thoroghly)

  4. Please , Thinking Deep, let us know who you are. You seem to know who is getting what. Grossman killed someone , Think deep about that.

H”YD is an expression that was always used for those who were murdered bec. they were Yidden, not because they were on death row for mudering others. Let’s not deminish the meaning of the term by misusing it for every Yid that is killed.

  6. You lack respect for all humanity. As long as it wasn’t a Jew dying at the hands of this murderer you’re very quick to forgive. Would you feel the same if was a Jewish person dying at the hands of a non-Jew. Isn’t it funny how everybody finds g-d when they’re about to meet g-d.

  7. Certainly no way to speak of another Jew one day after 9th Av. No one is in position to judge another from either side of this issue. It is best to remain silent and not comment.

  8. who needs to bring up all this ‘shmutz’ again! Thank the activists who take care of things, and if you don’t want to, keep that to yourself!!!!

  9. give credit where credit is due!
who is this group of volunteers? whos cemetery is it in Liberty?
    Chesed Shel Emes!
the organization that arranged Mr. Grossmans Levaya, Kevura, and the Hakomas Matzeivos of 30 other Meisei Mitzva alongside Martin Grossman.

  10. Rabbosai,

Michoel Yechiel zt’l was niftar a pure and holy Tzaddik.

Any one here would be so lucky as to receive half his chelek in olam haboa.

  11. HY”D?!?!

    Moral confusion reigns supreme!!!

Yes, it’s great there was achdus among klal-Yisroel in his last days but only the Eibeshter can judge him and his teshuva. We aren’t to make a martyr out of him! He was NOT killed for being a Jew. He was killed because he was convicted in a court of law for bludgeoning a poor woman to death and sentenced to die.

Let’s keep HY”D to Jews like the Holtzbergs, Daniel Pearl, the kedoshim of the Holocaust and all other Jews murdered because they were Jews.

  12. Reb Michoel Yechiel A”H should be a maalitz yosher for all of us. Including those who fail to recognize his kedusha.

  13. Halacha is determined by the Torah Gemara Shulachan Orach not by peoples emotions or feelings or the slogans or politicaly correct issues of the day according to Halacha there is no question that he would not be Mechuyev Missah FIRST of all there is the issue of her being a non Yehudis there are different Halochos that apply if the Nirtzach was a Yehudi or not and in Martins case in particular you cant even call him a Rotzeich number one there was no 2 valid Aidem there was no Hasrah By 2 valid aidem it was also not premeditated it all happened in middle of a scuffle who said he did it bemaized (if it was beshogag even if the nirtzach was a yehudi there would be no capital punishment only Orai Miklot) and it may also fall under self defense even if he didnt feel his life was threatened by her killing him maybe he felt his life was in danger since she was going to arrest him and now he has to go to jail which definetly falls under Sofek Pikuach Nefesh people get killed cOmmit suicide and GET seriosly injured and other things happen to them in jail which i wont spell out

  14. Don’t know whether you accept the voice of a woman suffice to say why do some Jews reserve the entitlement to judge other Jews? This is the reason we are where we are without Moschiah!!! and without our Temple…. I agree with 16 18 and 19….

Leave this man rest in peace and the rest or you should get a life and concern yourself with Israel and peace in our land

  15. #21 — very well put and correct. It should be noted that since it was aino yehudi it is not considered retzicha.

  16. #23 – retzicha or any person certainly is considered retzicha, despite the fact that the Sanhedrin wouldn’t impose capital punishment for it. There is certainly no justification for making a hero out of a man who, for most of his life, certainly wasn’t any kind of example. May he rest in peace, and may the rest of us remain level-headed….
