Photos: Mendy Berger Leads Trip from Chicago to Yerushalayim to Dedicate New Project Refuah Respite Home

unnamed (1)Mendy and Aviva Berger, who are well known in Chicago and beyond for their acts of chesed led a trip to Israel to dedicate a new respite home for the special needs children of Project Refuah.

Refuah is a unique chesed organization that supports families of children with special needs throughout Israel. Joined by a group of 50 close family and friends from Chicago, the Bergers dedicated the new Home in honor of Mendy’s grandfather, Rav Moshe Zev Traube zt”l.

The whirlwind trip started with a visit to the Presidents Residence where the group was treated with a meeting with Israeli president Reuven Rivlin.

After that, they were taken on a tour of the Jerusalem city council where they met Yerushalayim Mayor Nir Barkat and had a 45 minute question and answer session which covered a scope of topics from Israel’s security to Bridging the gap between the charedi and chiloni Jews of Israel.

Following the visit to City Hall, the group headed to the Knesset where they were greeted by MK Yaakov Litzman and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon.

The visit to the Knesset culminated with greeting PM Bibi Netanyahu who thanked the group for their tireless support of the children of Israel.

The evening culminated with the dedication of the Respite Home and a dedication dinner at Aish Hatorah. The highlight of the evening was the bar mitzva a Project Refuah child at the dinner.
