lakewood-cheder-opens-for-elul-5771-29[Photos below.] Lakewood, NJ – With the arrival of Elul, many schools around the country have resumed sessions. Today, the Lakewood Cheder School, of the largest chadorim in the country, opened its doors for the 2011-2012 school year. Students gathered at the school’s campus at the corner of Madison Avenue and Ninth Street to begin a year of academic growth.

Meanwhile, at the Cheder’s new campus on Vasser Avenue in Lakewood’s Industrial Park, a 218,000-square-foot building on which the Cheder went to contract last year, work continues at a feverish pace to complete renovations.

The urgent need for new and expanded quarters for both The Lakewood Cheder and Bais Faiga Girls School – which together educate some 3,300 children – has long been recognized.

The new thirteen-acre campus on Vasser Avenue will house the entire Lakewood Cheder, including a large bais medrash and dining facilities.

See below for photos of the Lakewood Cheder’s dismissal this afternoon following the first day of classes:

  1. I went today to check out the new cheder building, it is the most gorgeous school building I have ever been in. Huge classrooms, bais medrash, gym and a tremendous dining room. This must have cost them millions of dollars.
