The German daily Bild is reporting that Andreas Lubitz, the co-pilot believed to have deliberately crashed an airliner, killing 150 people, told his girlfriend he was planning a major act so “everyone will know my name.”

The woman, a flight attendant, was given the pseudonym of Maria W. by the paper, and says she was in a relationship with Lubitz in 2014. “When I heard about the crash, I remembered a sentence… he said: ‘One day I’ll do something that will change the system, and then everyone will know my name and remember it’,” the woman told the paper. She also told the paper, “He never talked much about his illness, only that he was in psychiatric treatment,” and that they broke up because she became afraid of him. Read more.
