UK Prime Minister Theresa May is hosting her Israeli counterpart to mark the centenary of a British pledge that paved the way for Israel’s creation.
The two world leaders will attend a dinner honouring the Balfour Declaration of British support for a Jewish national home in Palestine.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, a long-time critic of Israeli policy towards the Palestinians, declined an invitation to attend the dinner. He is sending shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry in his place. Read more at BBC.
