Poll: Americans Prefer Low Prices To Items ‘Made In The USA’

Most Americans say they prefer lower prices instead of paying a premium for items labeled “Made in the USA,” even if it means those cheaper items are made abroad, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll, the AP reports.

While presidential candidates like Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are vowing to bring back millions of American jobs lost to China and other foreign competitors, public sentiment reflects core challenges confronting the U.S. economy.

Nearly three in four say they would like to buy goods manufactured inside the United States, but those items are often too costly or difficult to find, according to the survey released Thursday. A mere 9 percent say they only buy American. Read more.

  1. If they knew that items made in China, India, S. America and many other impoverished countries are made using real slave labor where children are taken into captivity and worked in really dangerous situations and kept in unpleasant living conditions, I hope they would choose otherwise. Are a few extra dollars in your pocket really worth your conscience? If we all demand transparency for living and working conditions of all workers, no matter where they’re from, some forms of slavery could be eliminated.

  2. You can’t find American made products even if you want to. Even if it says made in USA, it is probably merely assembled with foreign components. Even when actually made in USA, it is probably made by illegal immigrants who strain our local tax budgets or by Democrat supporting unions. So who cares where things are made.
