In the most recent Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll reported by The Hill, President Joe Biden appears to be trailing former President Donald Trump, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, and Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) in several hypothetical 2024 election scenarios.

In a head-to-head matchup between Biden and Trump, 44 percent of respondents indicated they would vote for Trump, while 40 percent expressed support for the current president. An additional 15 percent remained uncertain or had no preference. This polling data remains largely consistent with a similar Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll conducted in July, where Trump had 45 percent support and Biden had 40 percent.

The poll also presented a hypothetical contest between Biden and Nikki Haley, with 41 percent favoring Haley and 37 percent backing Biden. In a matchup between Biden and Tim Scott, the President garnered 37 percent while Scott received 39 percent. Notably, both of these matchups featured a significant portion of respondents who were either unsure or did not express a preference, accounting for 21 percent in the Biden-Haley scenario and 25 percent in the Biden-Scott scenario.

However, the poll indicated that Biden performed more favorably in hypothetical matchups against other potential 2024 contenders. In a contest against former Vice President Mike Pence, Biden received 42 percent support, while Pence received 36 percent. Similarly, when pitted against Governor Ron DeSantis, Biden led with 42 percent compared to DeSantis’s 38 percent. In a matchup with biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Biden secured 39 percent support, while Ramaswamy received 37 percent. In each of these matchups, at least 20 percent of surveyed respondents were unsure or did not indicate their preference.
