A new poll shows that one-third of Americans view the news media as the “enemy of the people,” an insult frequently used by President Donald Trump.
The poll published Tuesday by Hill-Harris X showed that 51% of Republicans viewed the news media as the “enemy of the people,” with 14% of Democrats, and 35% of Independents feeling the same way. Despite this, 67% of respondents said that the “news media is an important part of a democracy.”
Trump has frequently clashed with the media, repeatedly deriding certain media outlets as “fake news,” and “the enemy of the people.”

This probably depends on what circles you are in
In frum circles it is probably over eighty percent who view the media as enemies.
In super liberal circles, most people view the media as a wonderful beacon of information and opinion.
Either way, the media lost its respect in ALL circles.
Forty years ago much as frum people hated The New York Times they still considered it a reliable source of information
Today even most liberals I know acknowledge that bending the truth to suit their agenda is not something you can put past The New York Times
