If Israeli elections were held today, former acting Defense Minister Naftali Bennett’s Yamina party would surge to 25 parliament seats, just three behind the Likud, a new poll published by i24NEWS on Monday night revealed.
The right-wing politician has been breathing down Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s neck in recent months, as polls indicate growing dissatisfaction with the ruling party’s conduct during the coronavirus pandemic.
Bennett’s colleague and former Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked stressed this week that her party’s leader “should be the next prime minister.”
Answering a direct question who is most fit to serve as the Israeli premier, 29 percent replied that Netanyahu should be the prime minister, with Bennett coming in second with 19 percent.

The problem is that Bennet always polls higher than he gets in actual votes. He is weak in Hakaros HaTov and loyalty to those who deserve it, and therefore loses in voter loyalty , something Netanyahu has excelled in. He tends to be star struck and has made some real mistakes in that area choosing glitz which the voters dont appreciate . Bennet needs to solidify his commitment to Torah Jewry, aligning himself less with Lapid and more with religious parties. He tends to forget his friends in the pursuit of new alliances. When he lost completely, it was Bayit Yehudi, the very party he burned, who helped him. He certainly has talents and qualifications so I hope this time he learned his lessons.
