One day after Donald Trump praised Kim Jong Un for “keeping [his] word” and returning the remains of U.S. troops from the Korean War, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has accused the North Korean leader of breaking the promises he made to the president, Reuters reports. There have been reports that North Korea is continuing to make bomb fuel and new missiles despite Kim telling Trump that he was committed to denuclearization.

“Chairman Kim made a commitment to denuclearize,” Pompeo told reporters en route to Singapore. “The world demanded that they [North Korea] do so in the U.N. Security Council resolutions. To the extent they are behaving in a manner inconsistent with that, they are a) in violation of one or both of the U.N. Security Council resolutions and b) we can see we still have a ways to go to achieve the ultimate outcome we’re looking for.” In the summit with Trump in Singapore on June 12, Kim committed in a broad statement to work toward denuclearization, but Pyongyang has offered no further details as to how it might go about this.
