Prince William will make the first official visit by a member of the British royal family to Israel and the Palestinian territories, officials announced on Thursday.

President Reuven Rivlin, Israel’s ceremonial head of state, said he looked forward to welcoming the prince.

“A very special guest, and a very special present for our 70th year of independence,” he tweeted.

  1. His father, Prince Charles, attended Peres’s funeral. I think he wore a kippah but don’t quote me. Isn’t that counted for something?

Yes,EK,but that was not an official visit,he attended the funeral,then flew out of the country as fast as he could.Had Peres’s funeral been in any other country he would have attended anyway not just because it was in Israel….This,being an official visit, is different,it will be much more lekovod the country,which the present royal family have so far had no time for.
