United Airlines can’t seem to catch a break. The airline suffered a media disaster earlier this month, when a video of security guards violently dragging 69-year-old Dr Dao off an overbooked flight at O’Hare went viral sparking global outrage. Dao suffered a broken nose, concussion and lost two teeth in the incident.

Now United had the misfortune of hosting the flight in which the life of a potentially record breaking rabbit was snuffed out.

Three-foot Simon, destined to be the world’s biggest bunny, died in the cargo section of a Boeing 767 after flying out of Heathrow to a new celebrity owner in the US. Simon, expected to grow to be the world’s biggest rabbit, was healthy when placed in the cargo hold.

But Simon was found dead after the Boeing 767-300 landed at O’Hare — the airport where a doctor was violently dragged off a UA plane.

“Simon had a vet’s check-up three hours before the flight and was fit as a fiddle,” the owner claimed.

“Something very strange has happened and I want to know what. I’ve sent rabbits all around the world and nothing like this has happened before.”

An airport source said news of Simon’s demise sparked a panic among UA staff, adding: “After the viral video no-one wanted responsibility for killing what was to be the world’s biggest rabbit.”

Simon, a continental giant rabbit, was 10 months old. He was on track to out-grow 4ft 4in dad Darius, the world’s biggest rabbit.

Continental giants cost £5,000 a year to keep. Annette’s rabbits are hired out at £500 a time.

United Airlines is reviewing the incident. Read more at Fox News.

  1. Not the first “Continental” United has “snuffed out.” The first one was “Continental” Airlines. Possibly the friendliest, most helpful carrier, UA has run it to the ground.

  2. Apparently he couldn’t handle the continental shift. But in all seriousness it seems like United just wants to see how quickly they can go bankrupt.

  3. Who flies with United anyway? It’s only those rich & famous businessmen who fly first class using their milage. The average shlub could never afford their way over inflated prices. Normal hard working people, who actually have to pay for their plane tickets using their own money, fly American or Delta. Go to any discount air travel website and you will see that United is always at least $100 dollars more than everyone else. At least that’s the way it is, here in the Northeast. I hope they go bankrupt and this time the corrupt Government should NOT bail them out!
