The roshei yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha have penned a letter strongly protesting those who recently brought politicians to the yeshiva.

“We hereby protest, with all our strength, the chillul Hashem and disgrace to the honor of Torah and the honor of those who learn is, as several people, without the consent of the hanhalah of the yeshiva, brought politicians to the holy yeshivah,” utilizing the yeshiva, a makom Torah, as a place for these people to campaign for their political interests.

This scathing letter follows a week of heavy campaigning in Lakewood by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and his Republican challenger, Jack Ciattarelli. Ciattarelli trails Murphy by 6 percentage points heading into the final stretch of the race for New Jersey governor, according to one poll.

Ciattarelli visited Beth Medrash Govoha, interacting with the bnei hayeshiva and sharing his responses to their questions and concerns.

The aforementioned letter was signed by three of the roshei yeshiva, Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, Rav Dovid Schustal, and Rav Yisroel Neuman. The signature of the fourth rosh yeshiva, Rav Yeruchem Olshin, does not appear on the letter.
